Meh. Not as true cyberpunk as NM. And while the plot and some of the scenery was really cool (Phillip K. Dick, how could it not be?), the acting wasn't that great. It's set in a cyberpunkish world, but not done in cyberpunk style of storytelling. The director's cut with the narration is better. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie, but it's not true cyberpunk IMHO, just an action movie in a different setting.

Never saw liquid sky.

Um, I don't think Bladerunner is listed in the first link? Also, they (both) list "War Games" as Cyber Punk? Is there anything Cyber or Punk about that movie?

[edit1] The second site lists all the Star Trek movies... Again, anything Cyber or Punk about those? Perhaps I have no clue what this movement is.[/edit1]

I didn't post those to say "look Bladerunner is to cyberpunk". I just wanted to point out that the genre is a bit vague. Niether posted Critters, and if those bounty hunters werent cyberpunk then nothing is.
Some of those on that list are more then just a stretch; I mean Sid & Nancy? Its seems they just posted anything with either a punk rock soundtrack or a tech SciFi theme. Still, I would say they hit with Tesuo:Iron Man, and be sure to note

EDIT- Ok maybe that was outdated, but the director still seems interested. I searched around and found some story boards, a script, promotional art, everything but a contract

Noted.

Movies with cyberpunk elements, but not cyberpunk themes really. Bladerunner is close, but the director took Dick's story and centered on the wrong things.

I will correct my previous statement, Ghost in the Shell is a very good cyberpunk film. Haven't seen the second one, yet.

And for a quickie, check this out.

http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/stories/cpunk.htm

Haven't read it all yet, but starts pretty interesting. It's the short story that deliberately coined the term cyberpunk and introduced the main themes of computers and information technology as central plot elements.

The backstory that Bruce provides is pretty neat too.

Now I have this unusual urge to rent Hackers. Luckily, Angelina Jolie will make that a worthwhile venture.

That's because it is probably the second worst movie involving hacking ever made. The worst was, without any doubts in my mind, The Net.

That's because it involved Sandra Bullock trying to act like she knew what a computer was and how it worked. And because it was a shitty movie.
