It just sucks to me how the NJO books can be so awesome, and have such talented writers do them, then Lucas thinks he is god and writes cow manuer(sp?). He HAD the writers who knew the outlines, who could create well developed characters.. but NO.

..Ass

Admittedly, he did create the whole SW universe. Also, he had a say in all of the story arcs that the books center around; including the NJO series. That's why Jacen succeeds Luke instead of Anakin. Lucas felt that the fans would be confused because of Vader's name being Anakin. I found out some extra info on the NJO timeline in a recent issue of SW Insider Magazine that I read at a newsstand.

And if you're interested in some novels on the origins of the whole SW timeline, there is an 18 book series out on them. It's the Jedi Apprentice series. Only 10 of them have been published so far.

Well, I guess this is yet another instance where the books will be much better and more in-depth than the movies will ever be...

Has anyone read the books on Episode I and Episode II? Do they make up for the shortcomings in the movies?

I got about halfway through the first book after I saw ep1, then I threw it away in disgust cause it was just describing the movie.. and that was bad enough.
I didnt even try with ep2, I knew all i would see when I was reading it would be frolicking in a field, and the closest person to me would die.

Well that's cool and all, but I was hoping for a link to Hayden Christensen's obituary.

Gary Oldman is a reason to wake up in the morning and Thank God we actually have real actors in this world. I can't think of a single movie he's been in that has been unwatchable. He can only help this second trilogy... let's pray he has a very large part.

All I can say is, слава богу. Gary Oldman is up there with Christopher Walken and Kevin Spacey among the greatest actors of our time.
