Here we go folks... This is the kind of shit my co-workers bandy about for discussion...

In terms of making something out of almost nothing, who holds the edge? Angus MacGyver or The A-Team?

Obviously we can't take weaponry into consideration because Mac is an anti-gun nut and The A-Team couldn't hit the broad-side of a barn.

Discuss.

See, I think the A-Team would be vastly limited due to their anti-drug stance. MacGyver could easily make a high-grade explosive device out of some cocaine and a tampon.

BA Barracus pities MacGyver! HE PITIES THE FOO!

A-Team wins!

I'm leaning toward the A-team; mostly for their welding prowess. You can't get anything done without a good weld, I tell ya.

Well, that and they were the kings of, "stuff blows up and guys go flying but are only knocked out and not dead."

They'ra a product of a kinder, gentler, merely incapacitating military training program.

Ah, but could they make a welding torch out of a racing bicycle? IF the tools are there, The A-Team might have an edge. But if they have to improvise with duct tape and chewing gum, Mac has it all over them.

I'll give you that.

Burt, I think that GI Joe went through the same training program. Notice they had those huge firefights on the cartoon but no one died? Either they were the most accuracy-inept "specialist army" the world has ever known or everyone would be able to get out of a vehicle right before it blew up.

The parachute launch systems for the Joes were designed by psychics, and could detect an aircraft explosion mere instants before it occured and safely eject the pilot. This system then was leaked to Cobra, where the technology was turned against the Joes long enough to milk a couple seasons and a movie out of the concept.

The A-Team was by far a better show... I mean, the only thing they could possibly follow it up with was Knight Rider... but I won't bring other shows into this...

Magyver(sp?) was adecent show but was more geared towards adults and mostly watched by adults... The A-Team was for all generations, I mean come on, they took a bad action television show where hardly no one died over 4-5 seasons and added a regular comedy kick to it... That alone gives it something magyver couldn't/didn't have...

That, and the characters were more timeless... and the actors... Who else was like.. hey It's Murdock when the actor(whose name is slipping me) appeared on Start Trek TNG....

now granted, Mr. T is a more well known name than BA Baracus, but who knows Dirk Benedict over the face man...

MacGyver was far superior at building stuff from nothing. He built anything from anything. The A-Team always built the same general construct ( some sort of battle wagon or modified flame thrower).

Dirk Benedict was good in Battlestar Gallactica -- plus he got to hang out with Erin Grey ::drools::

The guy who played Hannibal used to play Bannacheck (sp?). It was actually a decent show; ala Murder She Wrote and Columbo. He was more of a "suave" guy in that show than he ever was in A-Team. He just died here recently....

However, Richard Dean Anderson is/did play(ing) on Stargate SG-1. Take that as you will. I wasn't a big fan of the show. Plus there was a character actor on Macgyver who played the antagonist (I can't remember the character's name right now, but he "died" at least 4 times over the course of the show). I've seen him in a few things since then.

I have to admit I watched both shows and Knight Rider.

I would have to say I like MacGyver the best as a kid. However, as an adult I would say A-Team for its campiness.
