WAS FREAKING AWESOME. I went to see it tonight and it absolutely was 100% better than the first one. Plus, it had all the elements that makes a great Marvel film: Stan Lee and Bruce Campbell cameos, some self-deprecating humor (the violin lady), and a setup for yet another film (with Harry Osborn, most likely, as the Hobgoblin). Though I would love to see Venom in the next film. Maybe that Jameson kid will get infected or something.

Yeah, Eddie Brock was Venom. Good arc if I remember correctly...

I was watching SPIDER-MAN (the first movie) and J.J. Jameson mentions something about "Brock" not getting the good pictures of Spidey.

Then there was the mention of Pete getting fired by "Dr. Connors" for being late. In the sequel, we actually see the one-armed doctor. One can only assume he's gonna start tinkering with reptile DNA soon...

Apparently there were more Marvel "in-jokes" in the two, but I can't remember them right now.

Not for nothing, but there's little reason to assume that the Spiderman franchise will attempt to remain true to the original comics. I mean, for one thing we have Harry Osborn looking the most like Hobgoblin. Also, I just don't see The Lizard as the next villain, because I think they're going to get tired of the "scientist's research causes him to go insane" theme.

Stan Lee was another "old man in trouble" part. Much like his SPIDER-MAN cameo, he was attempting to flee from falling debris.

No, actually he helped pull a woman away from getting hit by it, but close.

Harry Osbourne will not be Hobgoblin, he never was in the first place. Harry Osbourn becomes Green Goblin just like his father. Hobgoblin was just a pretender that stole some of Green Goblin's equipment. Then someone (Mephisto?) turned his face into a real goblins face and he went crazy. Just to recap Harry will be Green Goblin, and NOT hobgoblin.

Fair enough. I just figured that since they're picking and choosing the elements of the comic books that they like, they'd give the next bad guy a different name, even if it is Harry as the Green Goblin.

Green Goblin Lite: Twice the angst, half the acting ability.

Personally, I think they could have done a little more to recreate Harry Osborne's unspeakably hideous corderoy hair from the comics.

He did have some funky hair didn't he?

There are some kick-ass superhero flicks in the works that I'm really jazzed about.
* Batman (amazing cast)
* Spider-Man 3 (w/ Green Goblin, Jr.)
* X-Men 3 (The Phoenix Saga)

just awesome... of course there's still the rumour of McG doing a Superman re-invention, but I think they castrated him after Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
