The director of the federal National Hurricane Center announced that we should expect more hurricanes for a while due to the Atlantic's cycles. The last such increase was from the 1940's to the 60's.

Yeah, but that's from fox news, you can't believe anything they say. They're all Republicans who're plotting with Haliburton to kill kittens.

The reason why Halliburton gets these contracts is because they have a reputation for getting things done. When will the left realize that Cheney's former relations to the company has nothing to do with their superior kitten-slaying capabilities?

there is also this article from National Geographic that says the same thing

http://www7.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0508/feature4/index.html

just cause they kill kittens doesn't mean they can't get the facts once in a while.

Meh, forget the warming trend theory. It's armeggedon... Twisted Evil

Yeah, I heard a report that we should expect severe hurricanes for the next 10 years at least, and a plethora of them too.

As Bill Cosby once said,

And wait for the sewers back up

I have also seen articles that say we are in a ten year long cycle of bad hurricanes. Makes me wonder why this is in the 'news' section of the forum.

Com'on Uty, there are only a few companies in the world capable of killing 1000's of kittens tomorrow anywhere in the world.

Quote:
Wilma's confirmed pressure readings early Wednesday dropped to 882 millibars, the lowest minimum pressure ever measured in a hurricane in the Americas, according to the hurricane center. Lower pressure translates into higher wind speed.

The strongest Atlantic storm on record, based on pressure readings, had been Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, which registered 888 millibars.

Wilma is the record-tying 12th hurricane of the Atlantic season, the same number reached in 1969. Records have been kept since 1851.

On Monday, Wilma became the Atlantic hurricane season's 21st named storm, tying the record set in 1933 and exhausting the list of names for this year.

The six-month hurricane season does not end until Nov. 30. Any new storms would be named with letters from the Greek alphabet, starting with Alpha.
