I don't think it's legal to take home road-kill... even if it's your own doing. You're supposed to call state police, or fish-and-game, or someone, I think. They may allow you to take it on a case-by-case basis, though.

At least, I know that's the law in VT... not sure about other places.

You are allowed to keep it in West Virginia. But since the only reason I know that is the news coverage it got when the law was passed, I suspect WV's the only state that lets you do so.

well, i'm a nerd and i decided to try to find out what delaware's laws on that is... this is what i have so far...

WE do not have a regulations or statutes under the conservation titles relative to the disposition of carrion. As far as I know there are no guidelines other than common sense regarding the consumption of carrion. You may want to check with the Dept. of Health or the Dept. of Agriculture.

"no guidelines other than common sense regarding the consumption of carrion"

which is bureaucrat for "if you have to move the blowfly larvae out of the way, it is probably not suitable for human consumption".

indeed badass.

The article says he went back into the bedroom to continue combat with the deer. I understand he didn't want it trashing his room, but I think I may have stopped and grabbed a sword first, or if for some reason this guy didn't have a sword I guess a large kitchen knife would have been an option

CNN Reports on worst states for deer accidents

The problem I have is this: How many people report it? I've had 2 deer accidents and didn't report either to insurance, because they'd raise my rates. And I was only on liability for the last one.
