I've used textpad for about 4 years or so. It does almost everything I want, but the regex isn't all there. Only does greedy matching which is annoying... I've been looking at pspad as a replacement. need more testing.

Whatchyall use?

I continue to use textpad. I haven't found the need for regex searching in the stuff that I view with it. Are you using it as a development environment? Or are you just that picky about searching?

One or two people here use JEdit, I believe, the java plain text editor.

Yes!

Yeah I've tried that one. The startup is really slow. I tend to do a lot of editing by using the context menu to bring up an editor right away. stupid jvm startup time...

I use PICO! Heh, just kidding. If I'm scripting without an IDE I tend to go for Vim.

France got me hooked into Crimson Editor and I f'n love it! Previous to this, I exclusively used WordPad to do all of my HTML. I started in PICO, moved to vi, and ended up in WordPad. Then I got this and I basically use nothing else.

On a linux server: Nano (or pico)

On a windows computer: Notepad

On my Powerbook: TextEdit

Rich text blows almost as much as VI.

Oh... if you do dig VI, there is a Windows app called "WinVI" that you find and download. It's self-contained, so it works pretty well without spidering out into numerous other directorys and keys.

I'm gonna switch to jEdit for a while. Start time doesn't matter when you leave the thing open Smile

True enough. You know how much I abhor closing windows that I might possibly need again sometime in the next two weeks.
