I don't think you're in DE anymore, but I noticed the Acme at Suburban Plaza is hiring drivers; since they are starting web shopping and home delivery out of that store.

Hey, at least they gave you some notice and didn't fire you, say, on the same day you had to leave. Sad

I'm sure you'll find something quickly.

Hit up your ol' buddy tom roper Wink

The worst part is not having a huge network of cronies\h\h\h\h\h\h\h friends to help get you hired somewhere.

You did it once before, I'm sure that you'll do it again. That, or your mistress, errr, whatever, can coddle you for a bit Wink. Besides, now you have a local reference, so that should be helpful. Did your boss or anyone else there mention if they know of anyone hiring a code monkey? They might be willing to help out, since they're the ones terminating the contract., so I'd ask around if I were you. Or maybe your football cronies?

I'm sorry to hear it, but at least it wasn't a total surprise. You had mentioned before you thought it was going to happen. It doesn't make it less suckitudinal, though. I'm sure you'll get through this. Good luck babe!

Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew
Code Monkey very simple man
With big warm fuzzy secret heart:
Code Monkey like you

Good luck on the search...RTP has to have something else around...you could always commute to Charlotte, I know they have tech jobs there as well. On a different note, I will be in the greater Charlotte area for a start-up sometime in April or May. I was hoping to swing by your pad to see what its like. peace...

Well I'm not too worried. I just need to figure out if I want to get another job or go back to school. I do hate being poor though so maybe I will go for the job... Then again, real work sucks.

Other than don't do it? um.... No not really, although it is a pretty sweet way to put off looking for a real job. But I wouldn't do it unless they paid you to go.

Oh, and pick your advisor wisely. He/she will be your overlord for some time.

haha, well I'm going to go for a PhD so that makes it more likely that I'll get funded. If I don't I'll just give it a miss...

phd huh... Well if you do that make sure you have a game plan. Do you want to teach? Does industry really have a use for comp sci phds?

Of course you don't necessarily have to limit an advanced degree to comp sci. A bahcelors in comp sci mixes pretty well with just about any other science. You could do biology Wink

I intend to at least try teaching. I think I would enjoy failing\h\h\h\h\h\h\h teaching freshman... Anyway, if things don't work out I still have 3+ years of programming experience Smile

I pretty sure I don't want to go near bio! A year working with biologists and bioinformatics people has taught me that bio is icky and hard Razz
